A little about the artist:
Kelly Rae Roberts started her career as a social worker but later found the courage to follow her heart's passion and become a full time artist. As a celebrated author and artist, her work is now collected and cherished worldwide, and is part of many publications and juried art festivals around the world.
Kelly Rae grew up in rural North Florida where she jumped off docks into Sante Fe Lake with her german shepherd dog every day after school. As a child, she lived for eating fried chicken every Sunday afternoon, fishing with an old tattered piece of bamboo, and playing checkers with her then 85 year old granddad. Amidst the winding dirt roads of her hometown near St Augustine, Florida, Kelly experienced the joy and complexity of life and, like her mother and sister, turned to creative outlets as a way to express her experience of life.
When describing her inspiration for her art, she recently explained, "We all have layers of tenderness, dreams waiting to be born, and we all have courage waiting inside the pockets of our brokenness. When we acknowledge and embrace all of these vulnerabilities, we pave the way for an expansion of spirit, for an opportunity of growth, for rebirth, for really seeing ourselves. And most importantly, for creating the experiences we most need."
We are so inspired by this young artist, and new Mom! Her work is even prettier in person, and evokes a sense of peace, happiness and courage. Definitely one of our favorite new and emerging artists in our gallery!
